flydubai has announced the resumption of daily direct flights to Aleppo, restoring air services to Syria’s second-largest city after a 14-year suspension and expanding its regional network.

The flydubai Aleppo flights are scheduled to begin on July 20, making Aleppo the airline’s second destination in Syria alongside Damascus. The move strengthens connectivity between the United Arab Emirates and Syria while supporting Dubai’s ambition to remain one of the world’s leading aviation hubs.

The airline said the new route reflects its strategy of serving underserved markets while meeting growing demand for direct travel across the Middle East.

flydubai Aleppo flights begin July 20

According to the airline, passengers will be able to travel daily between Dubai and Aleppo from July 20.

The new service expands flydubai’s operations in Syria after the carrier resumed scheduled flights to Damascus in 2025.

Since restarting the Damascus route, the airline has increased frequencies to three daily flights in response to strong passenger demand.

The addition of Aleppo further broadens travel options for passengers flying between the UAE and Syria.

Airline expands regional connectivity

flydubai Chief Executive Officer Ghaith Al Ghaith described the launch as an important step in the airline’s network expansion strategy.

He said flydubai remains committed to supporting Dubai’s position as a global aviation hub by providing direct services to destinations that have limited international connections.

According to Al Ghaith, the Aleppo route will strengthen economic, cultural and family ties between the UAE and Syria while improving access for travelers across the airline’s international network.

The expansion also supports wider efforts to enhance regional mobility and commercial links.

Growing demand drives Syria network

Chief Commercial Officer Hamad Obaidalla said passenger demand between Syria and the UAE has continued to grow since flights to Damascus resumed last year.

He noted that the launch of flydubai Aleppo flights builds on the success of the Damascus route and offers passengers more convenient travel options during the busy summer season.

The direct service is expected to benefit thousands of Syrians living in the UAE and across the Gulf by reducing dependence on connecting flights through other countries.

The route also provides easier access for business travelers and families visiting relatives.

Dubai strengthens aviation leadership

The expansion comes as Dubai continues to reinforce its status as one of the world’s busiest international aviation centres.

Dubai International Airport handled a record 95.2 million passengers in 2025 while serving 291 destinations worldwide.

Airport authorities expect passenger traffic to approach 99.5 million travelers this year, reflecting sustained growth in international air travel.

Airlines based in Dubai have continued expanding their route networks to meet increasing demand across the Middle East, Africa, Europe and Asia.

Network expansion continues

Beyond Syria, flydubai has recently introduced several new international destinations as part of its growth strategy.

The airline has added Benghazi in Libya and Bangkok in Thailand to its expanding route network and is scheduled to launch flights to Pokhara in Nepal on Sept. 23.

The continued expansion reflects flydubai’s focus on opening underserved markets while strengthening Dubai’s connectivity with key regional and global destinations.

The launch of flydubai Aleppo flights marks another milestone in the airline’s regional expansion strategy, providing direct access to northern Syria while supporting stronger economic, tourism and family connections between the UAE and the wider Middle East.
