Hussain Khansaheb, a pioneer in UAE construction and an eminent humanitarian, has passed away, leaving behind a remarkable legacy that shaped the nation’s infrastructure and philanthropy. Serving as chairman of Khansaheb Group from 1954 to 2016, he led the company for 62 years, guiding it to become one of the most influential business entities in the country. Khansaheb Group, established in 1935, predates the UAE itself and remains a benchmark for excellence in construction and engineering.
UAE leaders expressed their condolences following his death on Friday. His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, praised Hussain Khansaheb for his generosity, humanitarian work, and contributions to national development. Sheikh Mohamed highlighted that Hussain Khansaheb’s efforts in community building, including housing projects, orphanages, and healthcare centers, have left an enduring impact on the UAE. Similarly, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, remembered him as a pioneer in both business and philanthropy, emphasizing that his initiatives immortalize his memory in the nation’s history.
HH Sheikh Maktoum Bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Deputy Prime Minister, also paid tribute, describing Hussain Khansaheb as a loyal figure and a philanthropic leader whose contributions have shaped the UAE’s social and economic landscape. The funeral prayer is scheduled to take place at the Martyrs Mosque in Dubai, with condolences accepted at the family residence in Al Mizhar 1.
Under Hussain Khansaheb’s leadership, the Khansaheb Group delivered some of the UAE’s most iconic projects, spanning construction, engineering, facility management, sustainable solutions, healthcare, lifestyle centers, and F&B. Key milestones include the Sharjah-Ras Al Khaimah motor track in 1935, St Mary’s Church in 1967—Dubai’s first church—the Clock Tower Roundabout in 1969, Sharjah Airport in 1975, the Trade Centre Underpass in 1994, and the Mall of the Emirates.
