The Data and Artificial Intelligence Glossary is a specialized glossary launched in 2022 by the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) in collaboration with the King Salman Global Academy for Arabic (KSAA). It is dedicated to providing essential terminology in data and artificial intelligence (AI), offering clear and concise definitions in both Arabic and English. The glossary serves as a scientific reference and a practical tool for enhancing understanding of AI-related terminology in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and across the Arab world.

Objectives of the Glossary

The Data and Artificial Intelligence Glossary was designed with several objectives:

  • Enriching the Arabic language by providing accurate AI and data terminology.
  • Raising awareness among practitioners, researchers, and the general public.
  • Consolidating concepts for consistent understanding across academic, technical, and media contexts.
  • Facilitating access to knowledge, ensuring that both professionals and non-experts can easily grasp technological terms.

The glossary positions itself as a scientific lexicon that guarantees content quality, contextual accuracy, and clarity.

Stages of Preparation

The preparation of the Data and Artificial Intelligence Glossary followed four structured stages:

  1. Collection of terms and definitions from twenty trusted global sources.
  2. Translation of terms and definitions with contextual accuracy.
  3. Technical review conducted by AI and data specialists to ensure precision.
  4. Linguistic review performed by expert linguists to guarantee correctness and consistency.

Through this multi-step process, the glossary achieved a balance between technical accuracy and linguistic integrity, making it a credible and authoritative reference.

Significance

The Data and Artificial Intelligence Glossary is a milestone in Saudi Arabia’s efforts to localize AI knowledge and integrate it within the Arabic language. It aligns with the broader goals of Saudi Vision 2030, which emphasize digital transformation, innovation, and knowledge development. By bridging the gap between technology and language, the glossary ensures that Arabic-speaking professionals and learners have a standardized resource to rely on, promoting both academic growth and industry advancement in the region.
