Over the past 15 years, Shurooq, the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority, has spearheaded the emirate’s transformation with an investment of AED 7.2 billion across 52 groundbreaking projects. The Authority, under the leadership of Her Excellency Sheikha Bodour Bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairperson of Shurooq, has become a beacon of sustainable urban growth and cultural preservation.

Shurooq’s investment strategy is centered around community impact, environmental stewardship, and economic resilience. Through its holistic approach, Shurooq has been instrumental in shaping the future of Sharjah, blending modern infrastructure with cultural heritage. Projects such as Sharjah Sustainable City and The House of Wisdom exemplify this vision, integrating eco-conscious living and renewable energy solutions.

Ahmed Obaid Al Qaseer, CEO of Shurooq, highlights the Authority’s commitment to fostering public-private partnerships (PPPs). “Our model empowers SMEs and entrepreneurs by building strategic destinations that enhance visibility and accessibility,” he says. Shurooq’s support for over 600 businesses, including 87 SMEs and 300 women-led enterprises, illustrates its dedication to driving local economic growth.

Several key projects reflect Shurooq’s dual focus on economic diversification and sustainability. Sharjah Sustainable City, for instance, has become a global leader in climate-conscious urban design, emphasizing energy efficiency and water recycling. Meanwhile, The Sharjah Collection Retreats blend luxury with eco-tourism, offering immersive experiences that showcase Sharjah’s rich cultural heritage.

Public-private collaborations are another cornerstone of Shurooq’s success. Through strategic partnerships with organizations like Eagle Hills Sharjah, Diamond Developers, and General Hotel Management Ltd (GHM), Shurooq has brought forward transformative projects such as Maryam Island, Sharjah Sustainable City, and The Chedi Al Bait.

Looking towards the future, Shurooq plans to enhance Sharjah’s urban and economic identity by focusing on sustainable tourism, wellness infrastructure, and the development of innovation districts driven by SMEs. By 2030, the Authority aims to develop 60 million square feet of space and establish more eco-friendly communities.

Shurooq’s success, both in terms of economic growth and cultural preservation, has helped Sharjah become a credible global investment destination. The emirate’s strategic location, competitive operational costs, and robust infrastructure continue to attract global investors, reinforcing Sharjah’s role as a hub for sustainable urban development.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YZ7sSDRCAXU
