Flydubai Expands Romanian Network with New Direct Flights to Iași

Flydubai has launched a new direct service connecting Dubai to Iași International Airport (IAS), becoming the first UAE airline to operate flights on this route. The move strengthens Flydubai’s presence in Romania, expanding its network to two destinations — Iași and Bucharest.

With the addition of the twice-weekly flights to Iași, Flydubai will also boost its operations in Romania by increasing Bucharest services to three flights daily, totaling 21 weekly flights between the UAE and Romania.

The inaugural flight was greeted at Iași International Airport with a traditional water cannon salute and an official ceremony attended by local authorities, airport representatives, and media.

Growing UAE–Romania Travel Demand

At a press conference, Jeyhun Efendi, Divisional Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations and E-commerce at Flydubai, highlighted the strong growth in demand:

“Romania has long been a key market for us, with passenger numbers growing an average of 16% annually since we began operations to Bucharest in 2012. The expansion to a triple-daily service in Bucharest and the launch of Iași flights demonstrate the popularity of our routes and the growing travel demand between the UAE, Romania, and beyond.”

Iași Airport Strengthens Role as Regional Gateway

Romeo Vatră, General Manager of Iași Airport, welcomed Flydubai’s new route:

“The launch of direct flights between Iași and Dubai is a milestone for our airport, enhancing connectivity for passengers and positioning Iași as a stronger international hub for the Moldova region. Iași Airport is now the only airport in the area with direct connections to the UAE.”

He added that the airport looks forward to a long-term partnership with Flydubai, benefiting both travelers and the local community.
