The Taif Chamber of Commerce is a non-profit organization that plays a central role in supporting the private sector in Taif Governorate. Operating under the Ministry of Commerce, it is one of twenty-eight chambers of commerce and industry in Saudi Arabia and a member of the Federation of Saudi Chambers. Since its establishment in 1978, the chamber has expanded its services, attracted investments, and contributed significantly to local economic development in alignment with Saudi Vision 2030.

Establishment and Growth of the Taif Chamber

The Taif Chamber was established under Resolution No. 947 on November 29, 1978, with its headquarters in Taif and three additional branches in al-Hawiyah, Ranyah, and al-Khurmah. It represents the foundation of private sector growth in the region.

One of the most notable achievements occurred in 2016, when membership nearly doubled, reaching 19,992 members—a growth rate of 98 percent compared to the previous year. This expansion demonstrated the chamber’s growing influence and role in supporting local businesses.

Services of the Taif Chamber of Commerce

The Taif Chamber of Commerce provides a wide range of services aimed at strengthening the private sector, including:

  • Supporting small enterprises and startups, offering guidance to overcome financial and administrative challenges.
  • Attracting investments by showcasing Taif’s economic potential and promoting resources.
  • Resolving disputes in the commercial and industrial sectors.
  • Issuing permits and certifications, including re-export documentation.

  • Human resource development through specialized training courses and workshops.

In 2020, the chamber modernized its services by launching electronic certification for members, ensuring alignment with Saudi Arabia’s e-government initiatives.

Organizational Structure and Committees

The chamber is managed by a Board of Directors comprising twelve members, including the Chairman, two Vice Chairmen, and a representative in the Federation of Saudi Chambers. It also has an executive body led by the Secretary-General, responsible for administrative and financial operations.

The Taif Chamber has sixteen specialized committees, covering diverse sectors such as:

  • Commercial Committee
  • Real Estate Committee
  • Tourism Development Committee
  • Agricultural Products Committee
  • Industrial Committee
  • Contractors Committee
  • Entrepreneurship Committee
  • Women’s Centers, Salons, and Workshops Committee

These committees ensure that business owners across industries are well-represented and actively supported.

Training and Development Initiatives

Recognizing the importance of human capital, the chamber established a training center to equip individuals with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills. These initiatives align with the state’s orientation toward preparing the private sector for future challenges while boosting competitiveness.

In 2022, the chamber signed a partnership agreement with the King Abdullah Institute for Research and Consulting Studies at King Saud University. This collaboration aims to identify promising investment opportunities, provide consulting services, and contribute to the economic development of Taif Governorate.

Conclusion

The Taif Chamber of Commerce has evolved into a vital institution supporting business growth, innovation, and investment opportunities in Taif Governorate. Through its committees, training initiatives, and partnerships, it continues to empower entrepreneurs and strengthen the local economy.
