China’s Ministry of Commerce reiterated on Thursday its commitment to strengthening economic and trade relations with the United States, emphasizing a collaborative approach to managing differences and promoting sustainable growth. The statement came after a series of positive developments in bilateral economic consultations under the guidance of both countries’ leaders.

According to ministry spokesperson He Yongqian, China and the U.S. held five rounds of economic and trade talks in 2025, based on the principles of equality, mutual respect, and mutual benefit. These consultations have produced significant outcomes, showcasing the potential for resolving economic differences through dialogue and cooperation.

Positive Outcomes from Dialogue

The spokesperson highlighted that the economic and trade discussions, particularly following the meeting between the two heads of state in Busan, have demonstrated that China and the U.S. can effectively manage bilateral challenges. Communication at all levels has continued through the China-U.S. economic and trade consultation mechanism, which has been pivotal in advancing agreements and maintaining momentum on key issues.

Moreover, the outcomes of the recent economic and trade consultation in Kuala Lumpur were also highlighted as a crucial part of ongoing efforts to implement important consensus reached by the leaders of both nations.

Future Cooperation

Looking ahead, China expressed a strong willingness to continue working with the U.S. to uphold the consensus reached by both leaders and further enhance the bilateral economic and trade consultation framework. This ongoing collaboration is viewed as essential for fostering stable and sound economic relations between the two global powers.
