Emirates Travel Advisory: What to Know Before Flying in December
Emirates has issued a travel advisory as it prepares for a busy December. More than 2.3 million departures and 2.5 million arrivals are expected at Dubai International. The airline urges customers to plan ahead to navigate the anticipated congestion.
Peak Travel Season Ahead
December will see a surge in travel, driven by the holiday season, major events, and an updated school calendar. Emirates anticipates heavier airport traffic, especially on weekends. Passengers should arrive early to avoid delays and ensure timely check-in.
Plan Ahead: Arrive Early and Avoid Rush
Emirates recommends arriving at least three hours before departure. Longer processing times are expected at Dubai International, so extra time is crucial. Passengers should clear immigration 90 minutes before take-off and reach the gate one hour prior to departure.
Arriving early provides time to enjoy the lounges, restaurants, and amenities at the airport before boarding.

Digital Tools and Faster Processing
Emirates encourages passengers to use the Emirates app to check in 48 hours before their flight. This allows digital boarding passes and registration for biometric processing. Smart gates provide faster movement through check-in, gates, and lounges.
Online check-in via Emirates.com is also available 48 hours before departure.
City Check-In Options
To skip airport queues, passengers can check in at the Emirates City Check In in DIFC. This service is available from 24 to 4 hours before departure, with free parking included. Between 15 December and 15 January, passengers who check in here will earn 2,500 Skywards Miles.
The Emirates City Check-In in Ajman, open 24 hours a day, also offers early check-in and baggage drop.
Bag Drop the Night Before
Passengers flying from Dubai can drop off luggage at the airport the day before their flight. This service, offered at no extra charge, helps ease pressure on travel day.
For added convenience, Emirates offers Home Check-In for First Class and Platinum Skywards members. Emirates agents handle check-in at the traveler’s house, hotel, or office and transport bags directly to the airport.
Updated Baggage Rules
Emirates reminds passengers to check the latest baggage restrictions before packing. Passengers can carry only one power bank under 100 watt hours, and it must be placed in the cabin. Smart bags are allowed only if their batteries are removable. E-cigarettes must be protected to prevent accidental activation.
As millions of passengers travel through Dubai International this December, Emirates advises that early planning and preparation are essential for a smooth experience.
Following these tips will ensure that Emirates passengers enjoy a stress-free journey this December.
